Card Status Codes

The card status codes we include in our technical documentation may differ, depending on the type of Thredd product or service you are using. You can find out more using the links below:

  • Web Services Guide: Status Codes Page - provides details of the status codes that can be set using web services. You can use these codes to update the status of a card in your program, for example, for a card your customer reported as lost or stolen via your customer mobile app.

  • Smart Client Guide: Status Codes Page - provides details of status codes displayed in Smart Client. These are codes you can select from a drop-down list on Smart Client, to change the status of a card, for example, for a card reported lost or stolen by a customer contacting your call centre.

  • EHI Guide: Status Codes Page - provides details of status codes that can be set by Thredd or via web services or Smart Client.

Card Status Codes and Auth Declines

See: Card Status and Response Codes

The main document listed on this page provides details of card status codes, plus information on how Thredd handles authorisation declines.

Additional documents are available which provide details of the Decline Code mapping rules Thredd use to map the card status values returned via EHI to relevant Visa or Mastercard fields.

‘05’ (do not honour) response code

05 Do Not Honour is a generic response code which can be used to decline an authorisation request. Please note that you should avoid using the 05 decline code, since Visa and Mastercard now require issuers to return more information about the reason for the decline, in order to provide the merchant with additional information at the point of sale.

If you need to decline with a generic response code to indicate that the card is blocked, we suggest you use one of the following codes: G1, G2, G3 and G4.

For more information, see Card Status and Response Codes.

Irreversible Card Status

If you set the status of a card to status code 43 Stolen or 83 Destroyed using Web Services/Cards API or Smart Client, these are considered as irreversible and the card cannot be updated or the status changed at a later date.
